Un BBS es un tablón de mensajes: un lugar donde dejas un aviso, lees los de tus vecinos y pides ayuda — aunque no haya internet. Aquí te explicamos cómo llegar a los nuestros, paso a paso.

A BBS is a bulletin board: a place to leave a notice, read what your neighbors posted, and ask for help — even with no internet. Here's how to reach ours, step by step.

Hay dos formas de entrar. Elige la que combine con lo que ya tienes: un teléfono conectado a la red Reticulum, o una radio Meshtastic en el canal Chapala. No necesitas ser técnico.

There are two ways in. Pick the one that fits what you already have: a phone connected to the Reticulum network, or a Meshtastic radio on the Chapala channel. You don't need to be technical.

Opción 1 · Con teléfono o computadora Option 1 · With a phone or computer

A través de Reticulum llegas al Chapala Lakeside BBS. Ideal si tienes un teléfono y quieres leer y escribir mensajes largos, con tu propia identidad.

Over Reticulum you reach the Chapala Lakeside BBS. Great if you have a phone and want to read and write longer messages, under your own identity.

Opción 2 · Con radio Meshtastic Option 2 · With a Meshtastic radio

Sobre el canal Chapala usas el BBS meshing-around con comandos cortos. Ideal si andas en el cerro o en el lago con un equipo de mano.

Over the Chapala channel you use the meshing-around BBS with short commands. Great when you're up the hill or out on the lake with a handheld.

Opción 1 — Chapala Lakeside BBS (Reticulum / NomadNet) Option 1 — Chapala Lakeside BBS (Reticulum / NomadNet)

El tablero se llama Chapala Lakeside BBS. Para abrirlo necesitas dos datos, siempre los mismos:

El concentrador es la "puerta" a la red: tu aplicación se conecta a él una vez y desde ahí encuentra el BBS y a los demás. Abajo tienes tres caminos según lo que uses.

The hub is the "door" to the network: your app connects to it once and from there it finds the BBS and everyone else. Below are three routes depending on what you use.

📱 Desde el teléfono con Sideband (unos 5 minutos) 📱 On your phone with Sideband (about 5 minutes)

Sideband es una app gratuita para Android (y también escritorio). Es la forma más rápida de empezar.

Sideband is a free app for Android (and desktop too). It's the fastest way to get started.

  1. Instala Sideband desde Google Play o F-Droid y ábrela.
  2. Install Sideband from Google Play or F-Droid and open it.
  3. La primera vez crea tu identidad sola (una llave privada que se queda en tu teléfono). Ponle un nombre para mostrar.
  4. On first run it creates your identity automatically (a private key that stays on your phone). Give yourself a display name.
  5. Entra a Configuración → Conectividad y añade una conexión TCP al concentrador: servidor 207.180.227.74, puerto 4965. Actívala.
  6. Go to Settings → Connectivity and add a TCP connection to the hub: host 207.180.227.74, port 4965. Enable it.
  7. Espera a que diga que está conectada. Ya estás en la red de El Faro.
  8. Wait until it says connected. You're now on the El Faro network.
  9. Abre el navegador de nodos de Sideband y añade el Chapala Lakeside BBS pegando su hash 530b0af93c51913f974e1a952163ec76. Ábrelo para leer avisos y publicar.
  10. Open Sideband's node browser and add the Chapala Lakeside BBS by pasting its hash 530b0af93c51913f974e1a952163ec76. Open it to read notices and post.

Consejo: en Configuración → Propagación puedes fijar uno de nuestros nodos de propagación (más abajo) para que tus mensajes se guarden y entreguen aunque apagues el teléfono.

Tip: under Settings → Propagation you can set one of our propagation nodes (below) so your messages are stored and delivered even when your phone is off.

💻 Desde la computadora con MeshChat 💻 On a computer with MeshChat

MeshChat es una aplicación de escritorio (Windows, Mac, Linux) con una interfaz cómoda para mensajes y para navegar nodos.

MeshChat is a desktop app (Windows, Mac, Linux) with a friendly interface for messaging and browsing nodes.

  1. Instala Reticulum MeshChat y ábrela. Crea o importa tu identidad.
  2. Install Reticulum MeshChat and open it. Create or import your identity.
  3. En sus ajustes de interfaces, añade una interfaz TCP Client hacia 207.180.227.74 puerto 4965 y guárdala.
  4. In its interfaces settings, add a TCP Client interface pointing at 207.180.227.74 port 4965 and save it.
  5. En la sección de páginas / nodos, abre el nodo con el hash 530b0af93c51913f974e1a952163ec76: ese es el Chapala Lakeside BBS.
  6. In the pages / nodes section, open the node with hash 530b0af93c51913f974e1a952163ec76: that's the Chapala Lakeside BBS.

⌨️ Desde la terminal con nomadnet ⌨️ From the terminal with nomadnet

Para quien prefiere la línea de comandos. nomadnet se instala con pip install nomadnet y usa la misma configuración de Reticulum.

For those who prefer the command line. nomadnet installs with pip install nomadnet and uses the same Reticulum config.

  1. Asegúrate de que tu Reticulum tenga una interfaz TCPClientInterface hacia 207.180.227.74 puerto 4965 (en ~/.reticulum/config).
  2. Make sure your Reticulum has a TCPClientInterface to 207.180.227.74 port 4965 (in ~/.reticulum/config).
  3. Ejecuta nomadnet. Ve a la pestaña Network y espera unos segundos a que aparezcan nodos anunciados.
  4. Run nomadnet. Go to the Network tab and wait a few seconds for announced nodes to appear.
  5. Pulsa < para ir a la barra de dirección y escribe el nodo: 530b0af93c51913f974e1a952163ec76:/page/index.mu. Enter para abrir el BBS.
  6. Press < to reach the address bar and enter the node: 530b0af93c51913f974e1a952163ec76:/page/index.mu. Press Enter to open the BBS.

📦 Nodos de propagación LXMF (mensajes cuando estás fuera de línea) 📦 LXMF propagation nodes (messages while you're offline)

Un nodo de propagación guarda tus mensajes y los entrega cuando el destinatario vuelve a conectarse. Configura uno de estos en tu app (Sideband, MeshChat) y no perderás avisos:

A propagation node stores your messages and delivers them when the recipient comes back online. Set one of these in your app (Sideband, MeshChat) and you won't miss notices:

Opción 2 — BBS por radio Meshtastic (canal Chapala) Option 2 — BBS over Meshtastic radio (Chapala channel)

Si tienes un equipo Meshtastic en el canal Chapala, hay un BBS (meshing-around) al que le hablas con mensajes de texto cortos. No necesitas internet ni teléfono con datos: todo viaja por radio.

If you have a Meshtastic device on the Chapala channel, there's a BBS (meshing-around) you talk to using short text messages. No internet or data plan needed: it all travels by radio.

bbslist

Muestra los avisos disponibles, cada uno con su número.

Lists the available notices, each with its number.

bbsread #N

Lee el aviso número N. El # es obligatorio — por ejemplo bbsread #3.

Reads notice number N. The # is required — for example bbsread #3.

bbspost

Publica un aviso nuevo. Sigue las indicaciones que te responda el BBS.

Posts a new notice. Follow the prompts the BBS sends back.

Paso a paso Step by step

  1. En la app de Meshtastic, asegúrate de estar en el canal Chapala.
  2. In the Meshtastic app, make sure you're on the Chapala channel.
  3. Envía bbslist al canal para ver los avisos. El BBS te contesta con la lista numerada.
  4. Send bbslist to the channel to see the notices. The BBS replies with the numbered list.
  5. Para leer uno, envía bbsread #N con el número que te interese (recuerda el #).
  6. To read one, send bbsread #N with the number you want (remember the #).
  7. Para dejar tu propio aviso, envía bbspost y sigue las instrucciones.
  8. To leave your own notice, send bbspost and follow the instructions.

Unirte al canal Chapala Joining the Chapala channel
